Ramsey Perez was a former two year solo drum major for the Parkland High School Matador Band in El Paso, Texas. He also served as the principal chair of his trumpet section in high school. All throughout high school, Ramsey served in other numerous leadership positions in addition to drum major such as Class President, Student Council Secretary/Public Relations Director, Vice President of the Speech & Debate Club, and Media Manager for the National Honor Society Chapter. He is currently recognized as a distinguished representative of his community due to his contributions to his school/local community. In his senior year, Ramsey competed in the 2021 DMLA National Drum Major Competition where he ranked third in the world class division and achieved fan-favorite for his class. He is currently attending the University of Texas at El Paso where he is majoring in social psychology. He marches trumpet in the Marching Band as well. Ramsey is also the Leadership/Conducting Technician at his former high school. He has in addition teched at other local high schools to aid drum majors in the realm of conducting and leadership. Ramsey loves to teach because he loves to be able to guide students on a path where they can flourish. Ramsey provides advice and tips on how to improve both conducting and leadership skills. He believes in honing one’s skills to be able to work the best and put in the best in a team, group, or ensemble. “Doing your best will always handle the rest, but ensuring you have a fun time, is what makes it worth every dime.”
