At the heart of her music education philosophy, Geneva Le cites the importance of using music as a tool to create more empathetic, communicative, and insightful individuals. As an experienced and current Phantom Regiment Drum & Bugle Corps Conductor, Geneva’s understanding of student leadership, effective systems of operation for marching ensembles, and the characteristics of a healthy ensemble culture have proven to be useful in her pursuit of teaching music. Additionally, Geneva serves as Head of Relations for Drum Major Leadership Academy. Here, she is able to contribute her knowledge to the leading organization in online marching arts education in an effort to foster sustainable leadership traits in young musicians throughout the band community.
Geneva’s various opportunities to lead also extend beyond the marching arts setting. In her role as a clarinet private instructor, she stresses the importance of consistent fundamentals and building good habits in her beginning clarinet students. As a semi-professional clarinetist, Geneva has performed in the Texas A&M University-Commerce second and top ensembles, and the Texas State University Symphonic Winds. Through her several years of clarinet and music ensemble study under various instructors and performing groups, she has seen firsthand the benefits of giving young students multiple avenues to express their musical capabilities. As a young teacher, Geneva encourages her students to try various forms of music-making, whether this be through large ensembles, solo opportunities, chamber groups, or other competitive and non-competitive means of assessment.
As a result of her experiences and constant enthusiasm, Geneva Le is a prominent up-and-coming music educator who aims to challenge and progress the world she believes is “a beautiful microcosm of humanity itself”.
