Deaven Knowles

Deaven Knowles is currently studying Music Education at the University of Memphis in Memphis, Tennessee and is the Student Resident at Collierville High School in Collierville, Tennessee under the mentorship of Associate Director Mrs.Cari Burgess. He has been a member of many of his school’s ensembles and was part of Chromium Independent Indoor Winds’ 2021 Virtual Season. His leadership experience began in high school when he was a Section Leader in his high school’s marching band. Since high school, Deaven has worked with many local band programs including THE Houston High School Marching Band and The Pride of Collierville Marching Band. While working as a staff member with the Pride of Collierville, he was part of team that lead the program to many grand championship victories and the program’s first ever BOA Regional Finals Participation. Deaven is very passionate about building and maintaining strong and welcoming culture in the marching and musical arts. He attributes this passion to his high school band director and the many mentors that he has had the pleasure to work with and learn from while in college. He is so excited to be a part of and work with amazing team at DMLA!
