Available Positions
Head of Recruitment
The Head of Recruitment is an admin-level position that engages new students with the Drum Major Leadership Academy through social media management, director outreach, and more. Candidates should have experience using spreadsheets and have strong writing abilities.
Administrative Assistant
The Administrative Assistant supports the executive team (Program Director, Director of Events, and Chief Executive Officer) in various week-to-week responsibilities. This role has a great impact and influence on the growth of the organization. Candidates should have experience using email, spreadsheets, and have strong verbal and writing abilities.
Social Media Manager
The Social Media Manager helps run many aspects of DMLA’s community engagement, supporting students through engaging and educational social media content. Candidates should have experience using email, spreadsheets, have strong writing abilities, and interest/expertise in graphic design and marketing.

Graphic Designer
Graphic Designers support the Marketing Coordinator by producing educational and promotional designs for event advertisements, educational tips, student workbooks, and more. Candidates should have experience using Canva OR Adobe Suite.
Video Editor
Video Editors support the Marketing Coordinator by producing educational and promotional video content for event recaps, advertisements, online courses, and more. Candidates should have experience using a video editing program of their choosing.
Event Coordinator
Regional Event Coordinators are key leaders in their region. They support the creation, scheduling, and growth of events through director partnerships, district outreach, and more. Candidates should have experience using spreadsheets, email, and have strong verbal and writing abilities.
Fundraising Coordinator
The Fundraising Coordinator plays a pivotal role in our organization’s growth by spearheading grant writing initiatives, cultivating donor relationships, and leading community fundraising efforts. This position is instrumental to our mission of providing accessible resources to the marching arts community. Ideal candidates possess a proven track record in grant writing, donor engagement, and community outreach.

Instructors help prepare and deliver word class learning experiences to thousands of students across the nation. Applicants must be at least 18 years old, should have significant leadership experience in two or more ensembles, and must pass a criminal background check. Instructor FAQ's
What is required to become an instructor?
Instructors must be at least 18 years old by the time of application. Each candidate should have significant leadership experience in at least two different marching ensemble settings. Every instructor must pass a background check.
What does the application consist of?
The application consists of written responses, a conducting submission, professional references, and an interview. Details regarding the application process are emailed to you directly after completing the interest form. Please complete the interest form below to learn more and get started.
What is the typical time commitment?
On average, instructors spend 1-2 hours on DMLA related tasks each week. There are many opportunities for involvement, and we want to help you engage where you are most passionate!
What do instructors teach?
DMLA Instructors help power everything we do. From private lessons to multi-day summer camps, there are a wide range of opportunities made available to instructors. Our events typically include curriculum such as inspirational leadership philosophies, modern conducting techniques, effective teaching strategies, and more. Instructors are prepped in topics prior to events – you do not have to be a master when you arrive, but will become one soon after joining!
